Review Platforms for Medical Writers

To wrap up our theme of Medical Writing Superpowers (Efficiency, Compliance, Cooperation, Accuracy, Consistency, Presentation, Voice) and the tools to help you achieve them, I wanted to highlight review platform tools.

Review Platforms (Activate your powers for Efficiency, Cooperation, Presentation

There are many commercial applications that help teams review drafts of documents.

  • As a MW, fewer tasks are less enjoyable than consolidating comments from several reviewers all from separate documents.

  • In a siloed system or process the reviewers lose the ability to see colleague’s comments and have their notes responded to.

  • Uniformity and consistency with review platforms helps to bring the team together to gain efficiency and make the MW’s job easier with a single source of truth resulting from reviews.

  • If you are an independent MW, consider a license to a platform so that you can control these critical steps in the process.

  • If with a company, ensure that teams use a consistent methodology so that reviews are as predictable and timely as possible.

  • Look for a product with real collaborative authoring and the ability to distribute permissions to review to a focused group.

  • Consider the output once a review is complete and how stable your document will be after having passed through so many fingertips.
